2019 Mondello Park Historic Festival celebrates 60 years of the #Mini

Following on from the success of the 50th anniversary Historic Festival in 2018, Mondello Park is delighted to announce details of their 2019 event which will include a celebration of 60 years of the Mini.

This year’s Historic Festival which features Historic Motorsport, Classic Car displays, music and air displays, takes place at the county Kildare venue on August 17th and 18th. The Mini has been chosen for a number of reasons. Famously, a Mini won the first ever race at Mondello Park back in 1968, when John Keaney beat a host of hopefuls to the chequered flag in his Cooper S.  The iconic marque chalked up many more successes at the circuit over the last five decades, as well as on the rally stages, and for many years was assembled in Ireland, with many stories in relation to this to be relayed over the weekend.

The centrepiece of the 2019 Historic Racing weekend will be a tribute to sixty years of one of the most important cars in automotive history, the Mini. As part of this celebration, Mondello Park will host a grid of Historic Mini racers from the UK as well as filling the circuit with Mini’s of all ages for celebratory parade laps. In addition, the Irish Mini Owners Club will bring the country’s finest examples of the beloved diminutive vehicle to be part of one of the largest gatherings of Minis ever seen in Ireland.

The 2019 Mondello Park Historic Festival promises to delight and excite whether visitors are there to reminisce on the good old days of motorsport or are first time race goers. There will be plenty to see and do, with races for Classic Cars and Bikes of all ages as well as demonstration runs by historic race cars.

Alongside the track activities, Classic Cars, Motorcycles and Classic Planes, will fill the venue, with the Mondello Park Museum of Motorsport also open to visitors, allowing free access to this unique collection of rare machinery. Mondello Park are delighted to partner with MINI Ireland who are the main sponsor of the Historic Mini race.

For 2019 Mondello Park is introducing Corporate Hospitality Packages to the Historic Festival, starting at €1,250 for a table of 10. The package includes a three-course lunch, a complimentary race programme, full bar service, VIP parking, complimentary wine, live streaming of the day’s events and Afternoon Tea.
