Barrable & THM Racing Ready for Brands Hatch – Motorsport.ie

Rob Barrable’s final preparations for rounds 11 & 12 of the Milltek Sport Volkswagen Racing Cup next weekend on the 1st and 2nd August 2015 are underway.

Since the Silverstone rounds, the THM Racing team have focused on the repairs to the car following the driveshaft and hub failure in race 2 at Silverstone. Testing has also been completed and the car has performed well, with the team now ready for Brands Hatch….and they can’t wait to get there!

The team are due to arrive on Thursday 30th July, ready for free practice on Friday 31st July seeking that all important set up, to maximise the twisty Brands Hatch GP circuit. Then it’s onto qualifying on Saturday 1st August and the two races on Sunday 2nd August – it’s an action packed weekend!

THM Racing Director Steve Parkinson said, “Brands Hatch is a great circuit and one the drivers love and it’s also brilliant for the spectators, with so many viewing points quite close to the track, so you really do see the action”, Steve continued, “we were disappointed with Silverstone, as we know we can deliver much more, but with a sensor issue in race one along with the drive shaft failure in race 2, it was one of those weekends, but we were in the top 8. The cars had some
developments completed and has been checked and double checked, plus had some testing miles and performed well,
so we’re ready for Brands Hatch”.

THM Racing driver Robert Barrable commented, “I’ve raced at Brands Hatch in Formula Ford in 2009 on the National track, never on the GP circuit, but did go really well there and I’ve heard so much about the circuit and it’s clearly a drivers favourite. The disappointing end to Silverstone was hard to take, but the issue is all rectified now and I’m looking for a strong points scoring result at Brands – we’re going there to win, but as we have all seen its not that easy. I’m really looking forward to the weekend and will be pushing for a good result”.

Having had a busy summer with events, both on and off the track, THM Racing are ready for a busy final 3 events of the Milltek Sport Volkswagen Racing Cup, starting at Brands Hatch. It’s a circuit the team have much experience of over the years in other championships and they hope this will stand them in good stead for this coming weekend.

Technical Director at THM Racing, Trevor Humphrey said, “We’ve raced at Brands Hatch for many years in one series or another and when we’ve tested the Golf here it’s gone well. The team has worked as hard as ever with development on the car and pre race checks so we are certainly ready.”

Friday 31st July: Free Practice Testing

Saturday 1st August: Qualifying at 18:00

Sunday 2nd August: Race ONE at 11:55 and Race TWO at 17:30
