150bhp Ford Fiesta ST Race Class Proposed for 2016!

Details have been released of a proposed new saloon class for 2016- using the 2.0 Fiesta ST as a base car.
Barry Barrable, the instigator of the class, says he has 6 drivers confirmed already and the interest is unbelievable. He went on to say “The current Fiesta Zetec success story can be copied for the Fiesta ST 150 BHP and with little or no modification allowed and it will be a natural stepping stone for current Fiesta racers who feel Touring cars or SEATs are outside their budgets.”
“I have priced road going Fiesta ST 2004-2008 models in the UK and you can buy a road one for less than £2,000 sterling or €2,750- add the usual bits and bobs to it and you will have a car on the grid for less than €7,000!”
“As it is still at an early stage I would like to announce an update at a meeting which we will hold in Mondello at the next Fiesta Meeting (6/7th June) I would like to see a 12 round championship with 10 rounds counting, Limit number of tyres to 10, all rounds double headers (subject to approval), Rolling Starts, Reverse Grids (draw balls like BTCC) Ford Dealer Cup award, everyone with the same racing suit and so on.”
The Technical Regs and Sporting Regs are being worked on as we speak and everything has to be approved by Motorsport Ireland. I will also speak to the tyre companies, Yokohama,Toyo and Hoosier and see who will give us the best tyre deal.
I would like to go to these people with rough idea of numbers so anyone who is interested please email me barrableb@hotmail.com Surely we couldn’t get a full grid of these out …..or could we?!”
