Alloy Repair Centre ST Championship Closes Up After Anglesey Battles

It was the LOH Motorsport cars to the fore when the Alloy Repair Centre Fiesta STs took to the Anglesey Coastal circuit for the all important qualifying session and when the chequered flag waved, it was reigning champion Michael Cullen who topped the timesheets, just two tenths clear of series leader Ross Barnes, with Victor Cullen third and  Roy “Rainmeister” White fourth for Murray Motorsport. Trevor Farrar was next up ahead of Darragh McMullen, Brendan Fitzgerald, Gordon Kellett and Marcus Hayes.
Michael Cullen led away but a determined Víctor, having topped the times in testing, was soon up to second and beginning to hassle his team mate by mid race. He eventually made it stick with a tow through Church and a committed lunge down a fast closing gap into Rocket. Michael fought back but Cullen Junior had it all in hand and it was he who crossed the line first, with the Beacon Hospital cars taking the chequered flag almost in formation.  Barnes, who was left sitting on the grid when the lights went out, had charged up through grid superbly and crossed the line in third place, limiting the damage to his championship lead.

Farrar leads White, Fitzgerald and Barnes.

Trevor Farrar drove a great defensive race for fourth, fighting off allcomers and earning himself a well deserved Drive of The Day Award in the process.  Roy White was next up, from Fitzgerald, Kellett and Hayes, with McMullen having retired with gearbox issues at half distance, having initially run right at the front. Michael Cullen’s fastest lap of 1:23.221 also broke the existing class lap record.
With the top six reversed for race two, it was Fitzgerald and White on the front row, with the LOH cars back on row three. Fitzgerald led away, with Barnes soon on his tail but Michael Cullen was soon up to third and right on their tail. When Barnes and Cullen tangled on the approach to Rocket, Barnes was despatched into the scenery and Cullen only had Fitzgerald between him and the win. It wasn’t quite that simple though as the Safety Car was despatched to control the pack during the collection of Barnes’ stranded machine. For a time it seemed that the race would end under safety car but eventually the cars were released with just enough time for one racing lap.

Cullen predictably went to work and managed to shuffle his way round the outside of Fitzgerald’s Lucan Windows and Doors car at Rocket In, giving himself the inside line for Rocket Out- and the lead, which he held to the flag. Trevor Farrar capped off a strong weekend by completing the podium in third, ahead of Darragh McMullen, Victor, Roy White, Gordon Kellett and Marcus Hayes.
