Watson Excited ahead of BTCC Knockhill Action!

An excited Andrew Watson returns to action for round seven of his maiden Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship campaign as he and his CarStore Power Maxed Racing team head for the iconic Knockhill Circuit.

Andrew’s debut season in the UK’s premier motorsport series has seen him make an impression already, claiming two Jack Sears Trophy wins, at Donington Park and Oulton Park, as well as collecting an Independent’s victory at the opening weekend at Donington in superb fashion. Andrew’s ongoing pursuit of the Jack Sears Trophy title resumes this week after his valuable points haul at the previous round spring-boarded him to second in the standings, and he returns to the undulating 1.27 mile circuit with fond memories of racing around the challenging narrow layout having secured a pole position and a third place at the venue during his 2013 Ginetta GT Supercup season.

Andrew heads to Knockhill occupying P20 in the overall drivers’ standings with 30 points, 5th in the Independents Trophy with 190 points, and 2nd in the Jack Sears Trophy with 259 points respectively Looking ahead to the challenge, a determined Andrew Watson is excited to get back out on track to battle it out once more.

“Knockhill’s a circuit that I love driving, and I’m really excited to tackle it in a touring car – I think it’s the perfect machine for the layout. It’s somewhere I’ve always done well at in my Ginetta days, so it’ll be great to be back. We’re still figuring out a few things we need to work on – qualifying has let us down a bit, that last couple of races, so I’m looking forward to ironing that out and being back in the fight. The car should be good there, there are certain characteristics to our package that are very strong. Our pace last time at Croft was very encouraging, so I’m looking forward to getting back to having my elbows out and enjoying life in the BTCC.”

Saturday will begin with two free practice sessions before qualifying at 15:15 (BST) which can be watched live on YouTube. 

All three races will take place on Sunday, with live coverage available on ITV4, or online. The races are scheduled for 11:45 (BST), 14:40 and 17:20 respectively. Live timing across the weekend is available here.
