BTCC Star Andrew Jordan to Tackle Mondello 6 Hour Fiesta Race

Former British Touring Car Champion Andrew Jordan will come to Ireland in January to compete in the Mondello Park Fiesta 6 hour Endurance Race. The hugely popular event always attracts a star studded entry, with Rally Champions and even former F1 drivers signing up for the Endurance event which sees teams of 3 or 4 drivers race against each other for six hours, with the last two hours run in darkness.
Jordan was persuaded to come to Mondello by Michael Cullen, who has raced alongside the BTCC star in historic races in the UK recently, and he joins multiple champions Cullen and Dave Maguire, in what promises to be a formidable team for Murray Motorsport.

Andrew Jordan:  “Working with Michael (Cullen) over the last year, he’s been telling me about how fierce the competition is in the Fiesta races at Mondello. I last raced there in rallycross in 2007 and loved the atmosphere, so I’m very excited to come and take part in the 6 hour race, have some great fun and try to get a good result.”

They won’t find it easy, however, as a host of Irish champions will also appear on the entry list, including four teams and twelve drivers who have previously tasted success at this event. Other names mentioned in connection with the Endurance event include former F1 drivers Tommy Byrne and David Kennedy, as well as triple BTCC Champion Colin Turkington, all of whom have competed in the race before.
The race, which was first run in 2014, caters for Ford Fiesta Zetec cars from the Mondello based championship. Despite their 1.25 litre engines producing just 80bhp, they provide some of the closest racing seen at the Kildare venue.

LOH Motorsport, Murray Motorsport and Kellett Motorsport battle it out as darkness descends on Mondello Park at the 2019 Endurance race.

Leo Nulty, Fiesta Championship Manager: “I’m delighted that Andrew has decided to enter. This event is always a little bit special and once again this time round, the clubman racer with his Zetec Fiesta can take on BTCC and F1 stars at Mondello Park.”
The event is open to anyone with a Motorsport licence or equivalent, and novices are always welcome. Cars are available to rent  from a number of teams including Murray Motorsport and LOH Motorsport in Kildare. Entries are now open on mondellopark.ie
