Chatting With…… Letisha Conn

There is a new wave of a female presence in Motorsport in Ireland. We have female drivers such as Nicole Drought paving the way for the younger generations and showing them what is possible.
In this new wave emerging, there are some extremely dedicated and talented young women. One in particular is the 14 year old Rally Driver, Letisha Conn. Letisha has a obvious passion for the sport with a clear talent that is going to see the young driver go far! Starting off in Karting, she has already moved on to be an RSA Class 1 Champion, Irish Cup Winner in the Junior Rally in Scotland and this year Letisha is competing in the Irish Forestry Championship and Junior Rally Championship. It is clear that she most certainly does not plan on stopping there. We had a quick chat with Letisha about what her plans are for the future and what advice she has for young ladies starting out.

What has been your most memorable Motorsport memory so far?
My most memorable moment within motorsport so far has been going over a jump during my first ever night stage at the last round of the J1000 Ecosse championship at Anglesey.
What is your ultimate Motorsport ambition?
My ultimate ambition is to rally at WRC level and also a career in motorsport, but before that I would like to be the first female to win the Billy Coleman Award.
Do you think that more young women are showing an interest in Motorsport?
It has certainly became more popular amongst young women since I started karting. This is great to see but I hope more ladies join this wonderful sport.
What advice do you have for someone looking to start out in the sport?
Number one rule is to always enjoy yourself and the second rule is just for the girls… show the lads how it’s done!
What are your plans for this year?
My plans for this year is to do the Irish Forestry Championship, this is my learning year in it. We will also be returning to Scotland for the J1000 championship where I will be on maximum attack with my new co-driver Jordan Murphy!
Anything you’d like to add, Letisha?
I would really like to thank all my sponsors for the continued support. It’s great to see such passion from such a young age and there is no doubt that Letisha will inspire others to get involved and follow their dreams!
