Top Irish saloon car racer Kevin Doran will return to the Fiesta ST Championship this season. Doran, from Monaghan, is a former winner in the series and is a crowd favourite for his spectacular “win it or bin it” style.
The Championship is enjoying somewhat of a renaissance this year, with a new promotional team and some small rule changes. This has enticed Erik Holstein and former ITCC star Doran, two of the quickest tin top pilots about, to throw their hats in the ring. The Murray Motorsport team have dominated the series since its inception, with Dave Maguire taking his third consecutive title in 2018.
Kevin Doran: “Assessing categories after a year out of competition, all roads were pointing towards the Mondello ST Championship as the place to be for competitive Tin Top racing in 2019. With Leo Nulty Promotions coming on board as class promoter and a number of super competitive national racers newly signed up or returning to the class, it’s certainly looking as if the challenge will be stronger than ever! We are delighted to announce returning sponsors Doran Motors ( www.doranmotors.ie ) have come on board and preparations have begun for the opening rounds in April at Mondello Park.”
The Mondello Park Fiesta ST Championship was introduced in 2016 as a step up from the hugely successful Fiesta Zetec entry level race series. The 150bhp cars are identical and setup is limited, placing the emphasis on driver skills. For 2019, the series will enjoy new promotion and already new drivers are signing up to take on the class regulars. Moire new drivers will be announced in the coming weeks.
The 2018 series begins at Mondello Park on April 14/15 and cars are available to rent or buy- for more details click HERE.
