Pinnacle Motorsport is kicking off the new year by confirming a three car entry in the upcoming F3 Asian Winter Series 2019, driven by young outstanding talent. Amaury Cordeel, Akash Nandy, and David Schumacher will be headlining the team’s assault when the season gets underway this January 11-13 at the Buriram International Circuit.
The trio will then be joined by DRAGON and Tairoku Yamaguchi in the B-Max Racing Team cars, which are run in collaboration with Pinnacle Motorsport.
Cordeel is the youngest in the group that, at only 16 years of age, has already won the FIA Spanish Formula 4 Championship in 2018. The Belgian also contested in several different Formula 4 series across Europe and UAE adding to his experience.
Malaysian driver Akash Nandy, on the other hand, is a Formula Masters Series race winner and Macau winner. He was 2nd overall in the 2015 German Formula 3 Cup and contested in the GP3 Series a year later. This will be his second time in the F3 Asian Championship after competing in the five-round inaugural season.
Son of ex-Williams and Toyota Formula 1 driver Ralf Schumacher, David Schumacher joins Pinnacle Motorsport for the first two events of the Asian Winter Series. The 17-year-old German made his single seater debut just last year in the Formula 4 UAE Championship where he ended the season as vice champion.
With such a high profile driver lineup, the Irish-licensed team is expecting the trio to fight for strong podium finishes this coming weekend. Three races will be held in Thailand before the F3 Asian Winter Series moves to the Sepang International Circuit for Rounds 2 and 3.
In collaboration with Japanese Formula 3 outfit B-Max Racing Team, Pinnacle Motorsport is also ready to take on the Masters Class with two cars. B-Max Racing team principal DRAGON and fellow Japanese F3 driver Tairoku Yamaguchi entered several events in the F3 Asian Championship last year and share seven podium finishes between them. They now hope to achieve the coveted race win in the Winter Series.
John O’Hara, Team Director: “We closed 2018 by dominating the final event of the year. So to start the Asian Winter Series with such a promising driver lineup really gives us a lot of confidence. This will also be the most number of cars we’ve ever entered in the series and everyone at Pinnacle Motorsport is excited to take on the new challenge.”
Accompanying Pinnacle Motorsport on their F3 Asian Winter Series campaign are partners Teng Tools, Motorsport Ireland, B-Max Racing Team, and Seth Ascetic.
