Peter Dempsey’s new Race Team Tops the Pro Mazda Times at Indy!

Newcomer team Turn 3 Motorsport earned the fastest overall time on day two of the Chris Griffis Memorial Test at the Indianapolis Grand Prix circuit this past weekend.

In the team’s official series debut on Sunday, 2017 Pro Mazda Champion Victor Franzoni drove the #92 car to the top of the time sheets with a fastest lap time of 1:19.6712.

“I’m really happy with the result Turn 3 Motorsport and I had on Sunday at the Chris Griffis Memorial Test,” said Franzoni. “I’m working full time for the team as a mechanic, driver coach, and this time, a test driver. We led the first and second session of the day and also had the fastest time of the day. So, I’m really happy because it was a lot of work to make it happen, and we did it.

“We already have a top three car, so the future will be really fun,” continued Franzoni. “I’d like to thank Peter for trusting me in his project and also Brian and Shaggy from Newman Wachs Racing for all the help they gave us. The last few days were a lot of work, but the results paid off.”

Turn 3 Motorsport ran at the test with support from Newman Wachs Racing team members Brian Halahan and Mike “Shaggy” Russell and Radical Sportscars driver Antoine Comeau who owns the #92 Pro Mazda car and is focused on making his series debut in 2019.

“It was a very successful debut for the team,” said Team Owner Peter Dempsey. “Victor is a very accomplished driver, so I expected him to be able to put the car at the front. The main goal of this test was to run the updated Pro Mazda engine and provide some feedback to the teams and series in the paddock. The engine ran extremely well over the course of the day, and we were happy to do some development to improve the reliability for the 2019 season.

“I want to say a special thank you to Brian, Mike, and Antoine for their support this weekend,” continued Dempsey. “Without these three people, this test would never have happened, so I own them a huge thanks. I’m very happy with the whole team’s performance. Now it’s on to more testing with Antoine over the next few months in preparation for the 2019 season.”

Peter Dempsey is the son of  Cliff Dempsey, owner of the hugely successful UK based FF1600 team, Cliff Dempsey Racing.
