Walter Hayes Trophy, who to look out for

Festival winner Joey Foster is probably favourite to take the Walter Hayes Trophy home with him this weekend, having sealed the Festival victory at Brands Hatch with an audacious round the outside pass on Neil Maclennan at Paddock Hill Bend, but here are 6 Irish drivers that we reckon could give him a hard time:

Niall Murray 2016

Niall Murray: Won everything there was to win last year, including the Walter Hayes Trophy, and sealed his journey to the Indy Shootout by winning the Northern Ireland Championship in 2017.

Kevin O’Hara: Possibly the quickest of the lot. A mountain bike accident meant he missed out on much of the season but, as the Fiesta 6 Hour regulars found out last week, he’s back on form right in time for Silverstone.

Jordan Dempsey

Jordan Dempsey: Quick enough to win UK races, and possibly even to take this one- but not the most consistent out there and will need to be on form as he starts in Heat 3 along with Joey Foster. Look out for him in the Spectrum, always very quick at Silverstone.

James Roe

James Roe: Has shown flashes of blinding pace but has had a very tough season, where it just has not come together. He needs to win this one to save his season.

Jake Byrne

Jake Byrne: Has not done much this year but was bang on the pace at Brands and has been flying in testing this week too.

Keith Donegan: Son of former Supercar star Brendan, Keith disappeared from the radar for a few years after an impressive season of Ginetta Junior with Douglas Motorsport. This year, he has really come of age, and only just missed out on winning the Festival a few weeks back. Keep an eye on him this weekend.
