Late Callup Sees Holstein Return to CadSpeed for @24HSERIES Portimao

After a late callup, Irish saloon car star Erik Holstein is headed for Portimao in Portugal this weekend, where will reunite with the UK based Cadspeed Racing Team for the championship deciding 24h Endurance race!

Having driven to an incredible victory at the Dubai 24H with Cadspeed earlier this year, the reigning SEAT Supercup champion has been signed up to help the team clinch the TCR section of the  championship.
Partnering UK drivers James Kaye and David Drinkwater, the team will run their Audi RS3-LMS at the Portuguese venue hoping for some more luck than last time out in Imola.

The overall 24h TCR championship is up for grabs at the event, with Portimao being the final points counting race on the 2017 calendar.

The race at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve in Portimao is the first event of the CREVENTIC SERIES powered by Hankook in Portugal. The track was opened in October, 2008 and has, among others, hosted rounds of the Superbike World Championship, the GT1 World Championship, the Blancpain GT Series, TCR International Series, FIA World Touring Car Championship and the FIA Formula 3 European Championship. The track has also been used for Formula 1 test sessions.

After rent-a-car rides and optional private tests on Thursday, 24 August, official track action starts on Friday, 25 August, with free practice from 14.00 till 15.30 hrs, followed by qualifying in two groups from 16.45 till 18.30 hrs and night practice from 20.30 till 22.00 hrs. On Saturday, there is a warm-up from 11.00 till 11.30 hrs. The race starts at 15.30 hrs and ends on Sunday at the same time, followed by a prize-giving ceremony.

Holstein is aiming to repeat his Dubai victory for Cadspeed in the RS3

Erik Holstein:  “I had a few laps with the rental car this morning- it’s a pretty daunting track. Can’t wait for official practise to start later. It is 34 degrees at the moment so I hop I last as long as the race! There is only a single point in it for the overall TCR 24H Endurance Championship, so we are just aiming for the win. These Endurance races are down to luck as much as outright speed though”

Hankook is the exclusive tyre supplier and title sponsor of the event while Italian company Panta racing fuels is the official fuel supplier for the CREVENTIC SERIES powered by Hankook. BRM is the official timekeeping partner and provides the trophies for the prize-giving ceremony. SPAA05 provides LED displays indicating the position of each car in the race. The following companies are present with sales and service booths in the paddock: DRD international for pit equipment, screen protection etc., Shiny Wheels for wheel cleaning, Speedcom for radio communication equipment and support and Global Crave for freshly squeezed orange juice.

Live timing and live streaming of the race in HD quality with commentary by Radiolemans.com will be available on the series’ website. The streaming will also be uploaded on the series’ Youtube channel. Regular updates will be published on Twitter (@24HSeries), Facebook (24H Series) and Instagram (24H Series). Further information can be found at http://www.24hseries.com. As ever, Erik will run Motorsport.ie logos on the Audi and will document his adventure in his “Inside Line” blog upon his return!
