Last months racing proved that the speed and quality of racing within the class is
constantly improving with many drivers doing some of their best times so far this
year. Race one was full of action with spectators left unsure who would take the win
right up to the very last lap. In the end Peter Barrable took the win followed by Alan
Dawson and Philip Jones in third place.

Race two saw an immense battle take place between the leaders. Peter Barrable
Alan Dawson and Alan Kessie battled from the 1st to the last lap to see who would
take the win. Alan Dawson was penalised with a 10 second penalty after jumping
the start which immediately placed Peter Barrable in P1. Naturally this was not
enough for Barrable who fought to win the race out right. With Alan Kessie hot on
his heels throughout the whole race, this was not an easy battle. After some
extremely close racing Barrable made his claim for the win and passed Dawson to
take the lead of the race. Alan Kessie was also not finished, with Kessie and
Dawson bumper-to-bumper for the entire second half of the race. In an exciting
finish to the race Kessie beat Dawson to the line to take the chequered flag and
second place.

Coming up to the halfway point in the Championship, there is no doubt that the fight
will continue this weekend.

This is the 6th year the Formula Vee Festival has taken place in aid of Laura Lynn.
In the last few years the festival has raised over €60,000 for the charity. Mondello
will be hosting a BBQ on Saturday evening after racing, followed by an auction for
the charity. Bouncy Castles, face painting and much more activities will keep kids
occupied on the Sunday. A sponsored car push also sees teams from the Irish
Supercar Championship along with other classes pushing a car down the main
straight to raise much needed funds for the charity.

With many of last year’s sponsors staying on board, mainly Keogh’s Crisps, Dublin Crystal (providing trophies for each race weekend) and Monsoon Estates Coffee. The Irish Supercar Championship will have a suite overlooking the main straight for every race weekend in Mondello Park. The Irish Supercars suite will be open to visitors during the race weekend who can enjoy complimentary Keogh’s Crisps and Monsoon Estates Coffee whilst watching the racing.
