Lyons Aims for Glory at Final Super GT Rounds

A full card of SuperGT action for Richard Lyons this weekend in Japan, with a testing double header of races to be played out at Twin Ring Motegi. After the cancellation of round 3 earlier in the season due to a severe earthquake in Kumamoto, SuperGT has in addition to the main race organised a second championship race to honour the area, and to complete the 8 race calendar for 2016. Twin Ring Motegi is a fairly flat 4.8 Kilometres of Japanese asphalt with a stop – start style of layout with tight cornering, this could play into the hands of Lyons and his R8 to chalk up yet more points. With the championship being so wide open in GT300, a lot of teams have all to play for this weekend which will open up the racing, and be sure to provide lots of fireworks of the racing kind.
Richard Lyons: “The final rounds of Super GT have came around quite quickly, and this time its a very unique finish as we have 2 rounds over the last weekend. This means that a lot of teams are going into this weekend with the possibility of becoming champion, and as the weekend plays out tensions will be high. Motegi, I feel, should be a strong showing for us, and I’m hoping that as we are heading back to cooler conditions, this will allow the Audi and our Dunlop tyres to have some advantage over our competitors. Dunlop have had very strong results in this final round in previous years. As a team we’re really motivated for a great result even though we had a troubled race back in Thailand, but that is behind us and we all smell success at Motegi”.
