#msirl @CianCarey19 Named Young Racing Driver of the Month for May

22 year-old Cian Carey from Ratoath, Co Meath, has been selected as the Young Racing Driver of the Month for May. Cian’s performances during the month included a win and a third place in the Boss Ireland Formula Libre races at Bishopscourt, and two victories at Kirkistown three weeks later. He currently shares the lead in the class championship.
Cian began motor racing in 2011 at the age of 16, driving a Honda Civic in the Irish Touring Car Championship, going on to finish as runner up the following year, after scoring four race wins.
In 2013, he switched to the Formula Libre class, driving a Tatuus Formula Renault, and won the “Driver of the Year” title in that class. Last year, Cian raced at several UK circuits, winning races at Brands Hatch, Silverstone and Mallory Park.
Cian recently qualified as a Mechanical Engineer and works in the family business, Mooretown Precision Engineering, who are his principal sponsor. He is also supported by Frank Brazil Reinforcements, McEntee Financial Services and Dunboyne Powder Coatings.
He intends to complete this year’s Boss Ireland Formula Libre Championship and hopes to take the title at the end of the season. Cian would also very much like to add his name to the illustrious list of winners of the Leinster Trophy, which is being awarded to the Boss Ireland series in September.
Having been selected as the second Driver of the Month for the 2016 season, Cian is now a contender for the prestigious Motorsport Ireland Young Racing Driver of the Year Award and the historic Sexton Trophy. This award is presented annually and is supported by Sport Ireland (formerly the Irish Sports Council) and Motorsport Ireland.
