#LMP3 Podium for @CRobertson55 & @PRT_Racing in @AsianLMSC opener

Pinnacle Racing Team (PRT Racing) had an enjoyable first outing at the Asian Le Mans Sprint Cup season opener last May 28 – 29. Sharing the Ginetta LMP3 prototype, Ate De Jong and Charlie Robertson claimed P3 and P4 in the two 60-minute races to score the team’s first podium finish at the Sepang International Circuit.
The Philippine-based team made steady progress during free practice and both drivers were consistently within the top three despite the damp conditions. Maintaining this pace, Robertson qualified third in Q1 while De Jong was fifth in Q2.
Robertson was first behind the wheel in Race 1 who managed to get a clean start. The Ginetta driver worked his way through the leaders and challenged for the lead throughout his stint in P2. However, the team narrowly missed its pit window for the driver change and was handed a costly stop and go penalty. Despite the time lost, De Jong pushed hard to claim third place and the team’s very first podium finish.
The duo faced more challenges in Race 2 on Sunday. Starting from P5, De Jong would have to pit to change flat spotted tyres after a spin while pushing the Nissan-powered Ginetta for a possible podium spot. Robertson likewise spun during his stint which delayed the car but he later set the fastest lap of the race to claim a well-deserved fourth place in class.

Charlie Robertson, PRT Racing Driver: “Mega to experience such a great track and an equally great team behind us. PRT Racing worked incredibly hard to give us the fastest car on the grid. It was a tough race, but I’m delighted with the fastest lap on the weekend. Ate also drove brilliantly, improving each time he got back behind the wheel.”
Ate De Jong, PRT Racing Owner and Driver: “It’s a great feeling to finish on the podium on my very first Asian Le Mans Sprint Cup race. We encountered some delays in the second race, but it was a positive weekend overall. I’d like to thank my teammate Charlie, our race engineers, and the rest of the PRT Racing crew for this amazing experience. I learned so much in only a few days and I can’t wait for the next round in August.”
Accompanying PRT Racing on their LMP3 campaign are partners Pinbet88, Motul, Redmount Group, and P1 Racewear.
The second round of the Asian Le Mans Sprint Cup will be held again at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia on August 5 – 7.
