O’Brien Aims to Increase Championship Lead at Bishopscourt

Andy O’Brien (22), from Templeogue Dublin heads to Bishopscourt Race Circuit,  Northern Ireland this weekend for rounds three and four of the Tool Dynamics Supercar Championship.

After the hugely impressive season opener in Mondello Park on April 16th/17th, O’Brien is confident he can build on what he reflected on as the “perfect start to the season”. He claimed pole position and two race wins along with setting fastest laps in both races. He was also the only driver lapping under the minute on Mondello Park’s National Circuit.

O’Brien holds a sixteen point lead in the championship standings ahead of his nearest rival and is aiming to extend on his early championship lead despite never racing at Bishopscourt Race Circuit prior to this weekend. “With media support from the Sunday World, we are in a great position to keep our early momentum going”.

Returning to racing in 2014, he won the Formula Ford Pre ’99 Champion of Mondello series and has been a two time finalist for Motorsport Ireland Young Racing Driver of the Year along the way.
