Jake Byrne set to challenge at Silverstone – Motorsport.ie

Motorsport Ireland Young Driver of The Year Jake Byrne visits Silverstone this weekend as he attempts to step his challenge for the BRSCC Avon Tyres FF1600 Championship. Having struggled with mechanical maladies at the opening rounds of the title chase at Oulton Park, Jake is happy with the way testing went yesterday and is confident he will go well at the famous home of the British Grand Prix later today.
Already a winner at Kirkistown and Mondello Park this year, the Kildare Road Safety Ambassador is looking forward to returning to the historic venue, having broken the lap record on his last visit in 2015 en route to a podium finish.
For 2016,the BRSCC Championship has gained an association with the “Mazda Road To Indy” in the US, which will see this year’s National FF1600 champion gain the opportunity to compete in a shootout to win a USF2000 scholarship worth approximately $200,000.
Jake Byrne, Motorsport Ireland Young Driver of the Year/Kildare Road Safety Ambassador: “If we are to challenge for the title we need a strong points haul this weekend. We have all worked hard since Oulton and testing yesterday went well. I am still getting used to the car but I like this track and am confident we can produce some good results here this weekend!”
