#BSB – @GRMotosport Ready for 1st Round Despite Break In

The lead up to the first round of the 2016, MCE British Superbike Championship at Silverstone has been quite traumatic for Sheffield based GR Motosport. With everything ready to start testing on the 11th of March, the Team suffered a break in where thieves stole 2 bikes, spare parts and tools, leaving impossible time scales to be ready for the first race.
The Team with help and support from our partners and the BSB community, worked miracles to build new bikes in just 20 days, to be ready for the official BSB test day at Silverstone on the 28th and press day at Donington on the 31st of March.
Our Team WD-40 Superbike riders Jack Kennedy and Sam Hornsey although seriously lacking in track time proved their worth with some great times. Both Jack and Sam suffered crashes where unfortunately bikes and riders did suffer a little but both bounced back with good times.
Jack Kennedy:- All credit to the team for all their hard work after what we’ve been through to get us back on track. We used the testing to iron out any issues with our new bike and to make it feel like mine again. At Silverstone I hit a neutral and the rider behind me ran into the back of me causing us both to go down. It’s just one of those racing incidents but unfortunately I picked up a small wrist injury too. Hope to be fully fit or as close as possible for this weekend to repay the team for all the hard work.
Sam Hornsey: – Firstly I cannot express how impressed I am with the team for getting us through such difficult times. Considering we have been seriously limited regarding testing we got a lot done and by the end of Donington we found something that we can take to round one. We had a crash at Silverstone that I’m just putting that down to a rookie error, but I’m really happy with the bike and can’t wait for round 1 now..
Brent Gladwin, GR Motosport Managing Director:- “To say the last 3 week have been stressful is an colossal understatement.. The support we have received has been phenomenal, we have reached nearly 3.5 million on social media all trying to help recover our stolen bikes. I keep being told its character building, but I was sure before the event we had some great characters involved with us. I can tell you it is Team building and I do have a great Team. I have to thank Jack, Sam and Taz for their patience and support, it’s been tough on them watching others testing while they have been waiting for us trying to catch up.
“My Team has worked all hours to make sure we will be at Silverstone for the first round of BSB and I am proud to say yes we will be there and competitive!
