Finol Star of Tomorrow to race Irish Legends Series

The 2015 Formula Vee Star Of Tomorrow Champion Des Foley will contest the first round of the Legends series this weekend. The Carlow man had an exceptional first year of racing with multiple class wins and national podiums for Leastone Racing in the Vees. This was followed by a Formula Ford test with Morgan Dempsey, two strong performances first time out in the Leastone 1000 at Outlon Park and a once in a lifetime opportunity to compete at the Race of Champions skills challenge in London against the likes of Vettel, Massa and Hulkenburg.

This weekend, Des is teaming up with POB racing for 3 races in the new Irish Legends series at Mondello Park and is looking forward to a fresh challenge. “It was a very last minute decision. I had no plans to be racing at this point in the year, but Paul put together a good deal for me and now I can’t wait to give this a go. I’ve never driven one of these cars, so Saturday morning will tell a lot, but I feel it should suit me and it’s my aim to be mixing it with the big boys properly by race day. A big thanks to my sponsors MGB Associates and Kelchem for supporting me once again”.
2016 marks the first time Legends will contest a full season in Ireland. Later in the year the Scottish series will join the Irish grid and see over 30 cars battling it out on the International circuit at Mondello Park. Seasoned Legends racer Paul O’Brien is hopeful that the series will grow over the course of season. “I’m proud of what has been achieved over the winter months since our pre-season taster in October! Unfortunately we are missing a number of drivers for round one, with the likes of Ivor Greenwood, Gary Humphries, Gary Lynch, Alan Dwyer and Paul Gills all missing for Mondello, but they’ll be back for Kirkistown in April! The series will grow throughout the year and we hope to have 15-20 cars on the grid come mid season!”
