Almost time to go racing- with Jake Byrne

Since being awarded the Sexton Trophy for winning Young Driver Of The Year in Dublin last December things began to change immediately.

Shortly after the awards I began to train with the Declan Brennan Sports Management Centre up in Co. Monaghan.  The training was definitely more intense than anything I had done before and within just three weeks there had been a noticeable change on the scales and in the mirror!  This training is part of being a member of the new Motorsport Ireland, Team Ireland initiative that was announced last month.  Backed by John Campion, it is a great opportunity for Irish drivers to get training and help in the areas that are usually neglected such as nutrition and psychology!

Along with this I have been working closely with Leo Nulty to obtain sponsors to help during the season.  Leo has been very successful on this front but unfortunately I can’t announce anything just yet!!

Apart from this everything is pretty much the same bar the extra few press releases and photo shoots I have had to attend.  Flat out with college at the minute as the final year exams close in and the dissertation deadline.

If you’re interested, the AXA RIAC Car show is on in the RDS this weekend and I will be attending with the Motorsport Ireland FF1600- on the Motorsport Ireland stand (stand M50)- come over and say hi!

Following that I will be out at the opening weekend in Mondello Park in a Global GT Light!  Keep a lookout on my Facebook page or Twitter page for further news regarding my first race in the Formula Ford!

Having fun with John Campion as he takes a Selfie with me and my fellow Team Ireland members.
