Newman Back On Form at Banna Beach Rally – Motorsport.ie

Jack Newman was in flying form at the Banna Beach Mini Stages Rally last weekend, putting his recent woes to rest with a strong run to 4th overall.
Fresh from his recent stardom, where both Jack and his Escort Mk2 featured in a hugely popular Dublin Bus ad, based on the TV series “50 ways to Kill Your Mammy”(see below), the Ashbourne man and co driver Andrew Browne were keen to get back on the stages and show some good form, with some recent issues ironed out of the car.
Seeded at number ten, the crew were confident of climbing up the order from the start. Horrendous conditions on the opening stage meant two spins, but with almost all of the field struggling with the conditions, the Patch Tyre Equipment backed Escort finished the first loop in 7th. The crew had a great run through the second loop, the Keith McMullan built engine performing superbly, and even with a quick spin on the final loop, they reached the finish line in an impressive 4th place overall.
Jack’s next rally is the hugely popular Historic Rally Of The Lakes in Killarney on December 5th.
Jack Newman ” I’m delighted with today’s result.I would have liked to get third but this was really just a shakedown for Killarney and everything went smoothly. The car is back on form, Andrew and myself worked well together and we went well in Kerry last year so it’s all to play for. As ever, thanks to all my sponsors- now let’s see what we can do in Killarney!”
