Murray takes inaugural SEAT Supercup title – Motorsport.ie

The SEAT Supercup Ireland made its first visit to Kirkistown on Saturday for the fifth & final event of the exciting new 10 round series.  With four drivers going into the meeting in contention for the inaugural title, it was Rounds 7 & 8 winner Niall Murray who would put in another dominant performance to be crowned champion.  Starting Race 1 from pole position with main title rival Rod McGovern alongside, the 2013 Motorsport Ireland Young Racing Driver of the Year would go on to take a comfortable 7-second win over the MM Motorsport driver with Barry English completing the podium.  With the Race 1 result reversed to form the grid for Race 2, putting Michael Cullen on pole, 20-year-old Murray worked his way to the front over the 16-lap encounter to again head home McGovern to claim his fourth win of the season and with it the SEAT Supercup Ireland title.  Completing the Round 10 podium, John Farrelly would also complete the Top 3 in the final standings behind Murray and McGovern.
