Jack Byrne is MI Young Racing Driver of the Month – August 2015

Jack Byrne from Ratoath, Co Meath, has been selected as the Dunlop Young Racing Driver of the Month for August. The 17 year-old scored a clean sweep in the Fiesta Junior class at Mondello Park on August 9, winning both of his races and setting fastest lap each time, bringing his tally to six wins so far in his debut season of racing.
Unlike the majority of young drivers, Jack didn’t compete in any other branch of Motorsport before he drove in his first race in March of this year, but despite this, he has dominated this new class all season. With the two final Fiesta Junior championship rounds taking place at the last race meeting of the year in October, a second place for Jack in either of the races would clinch the title for him.
He comes from a racing background, with both his father Kevin and his uncle Rory having been regular competitors some years ago.
Jack’s car is backed by rev.ie, with support from E Fox Engineers Ltd. He attends Ratoath College, where he is preparing for his Leaving Certificate examinations next June.
Having been selected as the fifth Dunlop Driver of the Month for the 2015 season, Jack is now a contender for the prestigious Dunlop Motorsport Ireland Young Racing Driver of the Year Award and the historic Sexton Trophy. This award is presented annually and is supported by Dunlop, the Irish Sports Council and Motorsport Ireland.
