Motorsport Ireland Fixtures & Preview 5/6.9.15 – Motorsport.ie

Killarney and District Motor Club will run their rescheduled Jimmy Devane Memorial Autocross this Sunday after adverse weather conditions saw the event postponed last month. Clerk of the Course Denis Nagle has laid out a challenging track that will thrill the spectators and test the competitors. The event will take place at Nunstown, Aghadoe and will be well sign posted from Killarney Town. Racing will start at 12 noon and competition is expected to be intense with the Jimmy Devane Cup being awarded to the fastest driver on the day. Spectators will be able to view the complete track from a safe location. There will be plenty of parking, access to the service area and a family fun day has been arranged alongside the event which is also a counting round of the Munster Autocross Championship.
Munster will also play host to the opening 2 rounds of the Motorsport Ireland Hewison National Autotest Championship this weekend with Cork Motor Club organising the Saturday event and Munster Car Club organising Sunday’s event. Both events will be held in Ballyvourney Business Park with Saturday’s action getting under way at 1pm while Sunday’s proceedings will start at 11.30am. At the opposite end of the country, Donegal Motor Club will be running their fabled Knockalla Hillclimb on the coast road running out of Portsalon. The event will run on Saturday and Sunday with timed runs starting at 11am on both days. More info on the event can be found by visiting www.irishhillclimb.com
The Trials Committee, who oversee the 3 clubs who run sporting trials in Ireland, are hosting an open day this Saturday at Ballybetagh Farm near Johnnie Foxes Pub in the Dublin Mountains. The open day will see consist on an evaluation for younger drivers hoping to compete in trials, scrutiny and a barbeque will also be held. Sporting trials are a highly specialised off road discipline but also, a cost effective one. At present most trials are taking place in the Wicklow area with 16 events taking place in the calendar year. The season starts in September and finishes in April.
