Griffin looking forward to Blancpain 6 Hour

GT driver Matt Griffin heads to Paul Ricard, France this weekend for the 3rd round of the Blancpain Endurance Series.
Griffin teams up with his usual Blancpain teammate, Duncan Cameron. The duo and will be joined by Francisco Guedes in the AF Corse entered, number 51 Ferrari 458 for the 6 hour race event. Cameron and Griffin are currently leading the leading the championship after finishing 2nd in Rd 1 at Monza and 4th in Rd 2 at Silverstone.
“I feel really confident going into this weekend’s race. I know the circuit very well and I feel that the Ferrari will be good around there. So far my whole season has been successful, but particularly in the Blancpain where we are leading the championship. That is a lead we want to keep and hopefully extend.” explained Griffin.
The Irishman and teammate Cameron were at the Le Mans 24 hours only last weekend where the race came to a frustratingly early end due to fuel pick up issues, however Matt will not be disheartened by that and remains focused for the next podium.
“Doing a 6hr race directly after Le Mans is difficult as you need time to recover although I’m sure that once I hit the track on Saturday I will be in good shape. Having Francisco in the car is great too; he will add some strength to our line up for sure. The Blancpain Endurance series is very competitive so we will need to be at our maximum and the goal is to be on that podium when the chequered flag falls on Saturday night.”
Qualifying commences on Saturday 20th June 2015 at 10.05 CET followed by the 6 hour race event at 17.00 CET, also on Saturday. Motors TV will be showing live coverage of the event from 16.30 GMT. More information and live timing can be found at www.blancpain-gt-series.com.
Directly after the race, Cork based Griffin will head to Okayama, Japan where he will compete in Rd 2 of the GT Asia Series in one of the Ferraris entered by the well established team, Clearwater Racing. Gianmaria Bruni will also be driving for the team.
