New RX Circuit in the west of Ireland attracts Dolan, Newman and Maybe Tohill??

The Irish Rallycross Championship is going through a rebuilding stage at the moment. A new committee has seen new ideas and new projects pushed forward. The biggest of these projects was to build a new Rallycross Circuit  on an existing circuit in Tynagh Co. Galway. After nearly 12 months of planning and building the new circuit is now ready for its first event on the 10th of May.

geoffrey dolanThe entries starting coming in last week and amongst the regular veterans of Irish Rallycross was an entry from Geoffrey Dolan.
Geoffrey is a well known name in the Rallying world but made a move to Rallycross this year after buying a 4wd Opel Astra Supercar from former Irish Champion Christopher Evans. The Donegal man made his Rallycross debut in the MSA British Championship but has opted to compete on home soil this time out entering round 3 in Tynagh.

Jack Newman has also entered his Mk 2 Escort in to the Rallycar class. With practice, 4 heats and a final it’s an ideal opportunity  to play around with different set ups, get some seat time and sharpen his skills ahead of the upcoming Cavan Stages Rally.

There are a few rumours and whispers that World RX Star Derek Tohill is considering putting in an entry.

The 2 times European Champion posted on his Facebook page this morning that he will be Derek Tohill.attending the event but he’s not sure if he will be racing or spectating. Tohill still has his mk7 Rwd Fiesta and also has the option of double driving with his father George who has entered. We will have to wait and see so watch this space!!!!!

The Dubliner hasn’t raced since he completed the First season of World RX Championship  last November where he spent a year swapping paint with the likes of Petter Solberg, Tannar Foust and Ken Block. We can’t promise names like that for Round 3 in Tynagh on the 10th of May but you never know. The door is open if they want to come over. It would a big boost to the Irish Championship to have him back out so fingers crossed!!
