STATUS GRAND PRIX ON TOP IN GP2 TEST

Rookie Status GP driver Richie Stanaway tops GP2 test times.
With an impressive performance on only his fourth day in a GP2 car, Status Grand Prix rookie Richie Stanaway topped the morning times on day three of the official GP2 test. Posting a time of 1:48.441, just over two tenths of a second faster than Red Bull Junior Pierre Gasly, Richie’s time is the fastest of the test so far.
Richie Stanaway commented “We made some really good improvements with the setup over the first few days. I could feel how good the car was this morning on old tyres which gave me full confidence when I went for a time. This afternoon we will focus on making sure the race setup is just as good by completing our long run programme.
“As a rookie it is pretty cool to top a GP2 session, I don’t want to get ahead of myself but it is a really good starting point and now I can focus on improving even more.
“The team are doing a great job and I’m pleased that this is some sort of reward for all the hard work they have put in over the winter.”
Status Grand Prix MD, David Kennedy “As a new team with rookie drivers this was an outstanding performance. Despite this being our maiden GP2 season we are lucky to have some of the most experienced personnel in the pit lane led by former F1 Team Manager ‘The Grizzly’ Dave Stubbs.
“Richie’s performance this morning was magnificent and has given a real boost to the team. Marlon gave us terrific feedback and despite being hampered by a few problems, his race runs were superb. I believe that we have the nucleus of a competitive team with a very exciting driver combination for our maiden GP2 season.”
