It is always difficult to secure sponsorship to support clubman motor racing. Unless you have a proper quantifiable return for the potential sponsor, you better hope they have money to burn and just happen to like motorsport! Barry Barrable, a former Dunlop Irish Touring Car star (above) who returned to the racetrack last year after a long sabatical, has launched a very different concept in order to attract some backing. Having purchased Sean Lillis’ all conquering Fiesta, to run in the Blackchurch Motors backed series, Barrable is confident enough to offer potential backers a deal where they only pay him if he finishes on the podium. Ballsy, brave but best of all different.
Barry is looking for 2 companies to come on board and support him alongside Michael Barrable Motors Car Hire subsidiary AirportHire.ie. The 10 Round season starts on the 15th March and runs right through until the end of September and is televised LIVE on Mondello.tv
What Barry is proposing is a success driven sponsorship package where he would only receive backing if he finishes in the Top 3 at each round, if he finishes outside the Top 3 he would carry the company logos for FREE (no pressure then!)
Barry said, “I appreciate sponsorship is hard to come by but hopefully with this “Success Proposal”, two companies will come on board with me and join the team for this season. So how does it work? It’s very simple, I have allocated two thirds of the car available for the 2 company logos which I will put on in time for the first round on the 15th March (The company will supply the graphics) and carry for the rest of the season.
If I finish outside of the Top 3 at each round I will carry the Logos for FREE and if I finish in the Top 3 I would receive €300 for 1st, €200 for 2nd and €100 for 3rd from each company. According to Barrable, “this proposal will make me even more determined to win and to be competitive in Ireland’s most successful one make saloon car Championship”
The companies will be chosen and announced next week.
