Champion returns to Adelaide Masters Series for Bishopscourt. – Motorsport.ie

The Adelaide Masters Series heads north to County Down for its fourth event of the 2015 season this Saturday August 15th, with the ultra fast Bishopscourt Circuit as the venue for rounds 10 & 11.

Backed by market leading Motorcycle Insurance providers, Adelaide Motorbike Insurance, the Adelaide Masters continues to be Ireland’s biggest Short Circuit Motorcycle Racing championship, attracting a top class field of riders.

NallyThe Bishopscourt event will see the return to the series of current Adelaide Masters Superbike Champion Cody Nally, whose British Superstock campaign was cut short by injury. Nally will use the Bishopscourt event as part of his rehabilitation as he aims to get back to racing full time. The Athlone rider will use the borrowed Kawasaki ZX10, on which owner Alan Kenny has performed so well this season, for his return to the series. Championship leader Derek Sheils will be Nally’s main target on his return as the Dubliner is unbeaten so far this season in Superbike. Sheils has been unstoppable on the tight confines of Mondello Park but the faster nature of the Bishopscourt track may allow a chance for his main rivals, Gerard Kinghan, Brian McCormack and Ryan Rainey to further decrease his advantage which has been shrinking as the season progresses. Bishopscourt has attracted one of the strongest fields of the season with Alastair Kirk and British Superstock racer Nico Mawhinney joining the Superbike grid.

The Supersport series has given spectators some phenomenal racing this season with Robert English the rider who has emerged from the battles as the title favourite. The pace of his fellow front runners, Conor Parkhill, Robert Kennedy, Richie Ryan, Luke Johnston, Jason Lynn and Jamie Patterson, and the arrival in the series of Nikki Coates, have failed to stifle English’s push towards the title and a good weekend for him could see him wrap up the championship with one event still to run.

Also set to race on Saturday will be the Pre-Injection, Supertwin and Production Twin classes, along with the Lightweight Supersport machines and a first ever Bishopscourt Adelaide Masters appearance by the Sidecars.

Admission to Adelaide Masters Rounds 10 & 11 at Bishopscourt is just £10 with under sixteen’s free of charge.
