Following four very successful years of the SEAT Supercup Ireland Newcomers Cup in association with Southside Motor Factors and The Johnstown Estate, 2024 will be the final season where series rookies can compete for the €10,000 prize fund in Irelands fastest one make saloon series.
This unique scheme has been a great carrot dangled for Ireland’s fastest racers, with several highly successful drivers making the step up from various other categories to the 340bhp Leon Supercopas.
The quality of driver and what they have achieved speaks for itself with 2022 Newcomers Cup champion Graham McDonnell also battling Shane Murphy for the overall 2022 championship, finishing runner up, but returning this season to turn the tables and take home the overall 2023 title.
This years Newcomers Cup saw Harry McGovern take home the top prize of €5000, from former ST Champion Eddie Peterson who collected a cheque for €3000, while fellow Fiesta ST graduate Dave Maguire brought away a reward of €2000 for his seasons efforts. Not alone that, but all three drivers won races throughout the season, with McGovern and Peterson also entering the final afternoon of the season with a chance of the overall title.
The drivers who have graduated to the series have proven to be amazing additions to the series and have helped raise the profile of the series to the fastest growing and most competitive one make series in Ireland.
So 2024 is the last chance to cash in on this amazing prize fund and join the grid of works built, professionally prepared SEAT Leon Supercopas in Ireland’s fastest, most innovative and growing one make saloon car series.
