Varied line-up for two day Mondello Park Meeting This Weekend

The annual Motor Enthusiasts Club Car Race event, will see a varied twenty race programme run over the weekend of June 10th & 11th. The races will be evenly split across the two days of action, with single seaters providing the feature races on Saturday and a mainly Saloon Racing timetable on Sunday.

Saturday will feature the two strongest single seater series in Ireland, Formula Vee and Formula Sheane. The E. Fox Engineers backed Formula Vee championship has seen a resurgence in numbers this year and continues to produce the closest racing of any single seater class. Colm Blackburn and Dan Polley, with two wins each, are the men to beat, while Kevin Grogan, Stephen Morrin, Anthony Cross and Justin Costello are also likely to be in contention. Formula Vee will race twice, with the first race being contested by the Finol Star of Tomorrow contenders, while also deciding grid positions for the Final where the overall championship racers will head the grid.

The Avon Tyres Formula Sheane championship has one of the most experienced line-ups in any Irish Championship and the quality of the racing always reflects this. Any one of ten drivers is capable of winning and so far there have been four different winners from the first five rounds with David Parks as the only driver to score a double. Formula Sheane will race twice on Saturday with changes to the grid for the second race.

The remainder of the Saturday schedule will be filled by a single race for micksgarage.com Future Classics, three races for Legends, and a single race each for the Stryker and HRCA Historic classes.

Sunday’s timetable will be taken over by Saloon Racing, with the two Fiesta Championships likely to be the strongest. The Patch Tyre Equipment Fiesta ST Championship and Mondello Park Fiesta Zetec Championship will both contest rounds five and six of their respective series’. David Maguire leads the ST standings from Shane McFadden while the budget Zetec class is led by Mark O’Donoghue from Owen Purcell.

Joining the Fiestas on the Sunday programme will be double headers for the Tool Dynamics Irish Touring Car Championship, ASK Supercars ‘powered by Pirelli’ and SEAT Supercup Ireland, along with single races for Strykers and Historics.

Tickets for Sundays event are available at discounted prices from http://www.mondellopark.ie where the event timetable can also be found. All admission includes a complimentary event programme and under 16’s go free.
