2016 British F4 Rookie Class Champion Alex Quinn set the pace with TRS Arden on the fourth day of official pre-season testing for the F4 British Championship certified by FIA – powered by Ford at Brands Hatch Indy.

His best time of 46.753s coming late in the afternoon when conditions were at their best following a morning full of wet weather running.

Said TRS Arden team manager Ben Bloomfield: “It’s great to see that a good driver can get behind the wheel of one of our cars and go so well from the outset. It’s a huge a testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone in the team.”

Quinn was the only driver to break into the 46s bracket, three tenths clear of Double R Racing’s Karl Massaad who put in his best performance of pre-season testing.

The Lebanese kart champion’s strong showing for the Woking outfit was backed up by team-mate Linus Lundqvist, who was quickest in the rain hit first session and ended the test third overall with a time of 47.146s.

Test 1 Pasma
Patrik Pasma

Patrik Pasma proved to be quickest of the Carlin runners, recording a time of 47.149s which was good enough for fourth. Donington Park test pacesetter Jamie Caroline wound up sixth fastest having shone in the wet earlier in the day and Lucas Alecco Roy ended up 14th.

TRS Arden’s Oscar Piastri was less than half a second adrift of Quinn’s time, with Ayrton Simmons only fractionally slower than Piastri.

Johnathan Hoggard’s best time earned him eighth for Fortec Motorsports and the team’s first confirmed British F4 driver for 2017, Oliver York, ended the test 13th.

Lucca Allen

Lucca Allen (Falcon Motorsport) and Jamie Sharp (Sharp Motorsport) achieved their best placings of pre-season testing so far, showcasing excellent pace in the dry.

Daniel Cao (Double R Racing) was less than one and half seconds off the frontrunners, while Ford F4 Challenge Cup entrants Olli Caldwell (TRS Arden) and Manuel Sulaimán (JHR Developments) recorded times good enough for 12th and 15th respectively.

The penultimate official pre-season test is set to take place at Snetterton on 15 March, as drivers and teams continue their efforts to extract the best performance from their Ford EcoBoost-powered racers ahead of the inaugural rounds of the season at Brands Hatch on 1/2 April.
