#ALMSC @PRT_Racing upbeat ahead of @Asian_LMC opener in Malaysia #LMP3

Fresh from their Formula Masters victory in China, Pinnacle Racing Team (PRT Racing) now has its eyes set on the opening round of the Asian Le Mans Sprint Cup happening on May 28 – 29 at the Sepang International Circuit. This marks the Philippine-based squad’s debut in the Asian sports car racing championship running a Ginetta LMP3 prototype.

The driver lineup will be lead by team owner Ate De Jong who’s moving up from go karts and touring cars into closed-cockpit prototypes. De Jong follows the Automobile Club de l’Ouest’s (ACO) objective to to provide drivers in Asia a stepping stone into prototypes, with the ultimate goal of competing in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Sharing the No. 67 black-and-orange machine in the Sprint Cup is Ginetta factory driver Charlie Robertson. The 19-year-old Scottish driver has extensive experience with prototypes, winning the European Le Mans Series LMP3 class championship in 2015.

PRT Racing has already been in Malaysia days before the Sprint Cup season opener to prepare the Nissan-powered Ginetta LMP3 for its maiden outing. Come the race weekend, the team will compete in two 60 minute races, one on Saturday and another on Sunday, with a mandatory pit stop. De Jong and Robertson are optimistic that they will finish well against the 10-car grid that consists of five LMP3 entries.

Accompanying PRT Racing on their LMP3 campaign are partners Pinbet88, Motul, Redmount Group, and P1 Racewear.

Ate De Jong, PRT Racing Owner and Driver: “Months of planning and preparation will finally come together this weekend and we’re quite excited to run with more experienced teams. Our first race will mainly be used to benchmark our performance, but if there is a chance to challenge for a podium finish, we will go for it.”

Charlie Robertson, PRT Racing Driver: “I arrived in Malaysia a few days ago and and have already put in some laps with PRT Racing’s Ginetta. This is my first time at Sepang and I’m working hard to learn the track and adapt to the hot weather before the race. It’s going to be a challenge but I’m definitely looking forward to join the Asian Le Mans Series grid.”
