New Single Seater Class to be announced for Ireland

In what looks like a late announcement, it has been revealed today that there will be a new single seater class introduced to Ireland this year. The cars, old F4 chassis, from the Spanish series, will be available to buy, lease or even rent for a single round from the opening round at Mondello Park later this month.

Details are currently sketchy ahead of the official launch next week but the organisers are believed to have secured backing from an energy drinks firm as well as a prominent tyre manufacturer. The opening round of the series will be held on Sunday April 19th. Such is the support for this, the new premier Irish race series, that both entry and tyre costs will be covered by the series promoters, meaning that deals will be available for as little as €1,000 per weekend.  Names already rumoured to be interested in the class include former MI Young Driver Niall Murray, former Leinster Trophy winner Barry Rabbitt and Porsche Carrera Cup UK regular Karl Leonard. The series will also include a karting scholarship and a celebrity car, with top UK single seater drivers invited to compete against the series regulars. All Mondello rounds will be covered by Mondello TV with the possibility of a UK round later in the year also.

Motorsport.ie will be the official media partner for the series and will have the first news ahead of the official launch- watch this space!
